What I Learned in the Third Quarter of English 9/10

I learned a lot third quarter. I learned about symbolism, allegory, poetry, imagery, figurative language, primary source, and secondary source. The one I liked / learned about the most was image. I am a visual learner so I always need pictures to help me comprehend things. Another easy one to understand was poetry. I knew what the poem was trying to communicate on an undertandable level. The most difficult thing I learned this quarter was symbolism. It was hard because I didn't feel that I knew a lot about that subject. All together, I learned a decent amount this quarter.

"Ex- Basketball Player" Paragraph

Athletics are important to me because they can teach you a lot of things that you might not know. I do think that it prepares young people for life because it teaches them responsibilties. For Example, the coach may tell you to be on time becauseyour not it shows that you are not responsible. Additionally, I think that athletes teach us about things that we never knew we could learn from a coach because most of us just think that the coach is supose to teach you how to play a game. It's important to me because it also helps us stay active and learn about how to stay fit in the future. As a result athletics are important in a young persons life because again it teaches you things you might have never known.

CAHSEE Reflection

Today I took the CAHSEE English portion and I feel that I did a great job. It was super easy and all that time I was worrying that it was going to be hard possibly fail. During testing I started with writing my easy just to get the hard part out of the way. After I finished my essay I started to doze off. I tried my hardest to stay awake and make sure that I complete it. Then we took a break and continued the second session of the English. When it was over I went to the last three classes of the day. During sixth period I took a whole bunch of chairs, lined them up and went to sleep until the bell rang. I have to say the CAHSEE definetly drained all the energy out of me for today.

“Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?” Enlist Paragraph

I would never enlist in the military. I wouldn't want people to tell me what to do because I like doing my own thing on my own time. Another reason is, I would want to stay with my family and not leave because I might not have a chance of coming back. A final reason I wouldn't enlist because I wouldn't be able to curse and I know if I did, I would be in huge trouble. If I was drafted I would run off to Canada and I would hide until the draft was repealed.

Primary and Secondary Sources Comparison

Primary and secondary source both give you information about what happened. Primary source is different because you would have to be the one that witnessed what had happened. For example, someone got shot and I was there to witness everything. Another example, " I came home and my dog was dead." Secondary source is also different than primary because it means that someone told you what had happened. For example, Ms. Priester came up to me and told me that she got arrested. A final example would be Chanda had told me that your sister had a baby. These sources are useful because it expresses the events in different situations.

Feelings about the CAHSEE

I'm kind of nervous about the CHASEE this year. I think I'm going to do good on my reading part but not so good on the math. I have been working with my houseparent on my math and going over how to do things that I struggle with. I'm going to try my hardest though because I don't want to have to keep redoing it every time I fail. I'm going to maintain to stay awake through it because It's so long. All together I think I'm nervous but at the same time I'm excited.
