“Two Kinds” In the Shoes of a Prodigy

If someone pushed me into be a prodigy I would be frustrated and upset. I wouldn't want someone telling me what I need to be. I'm not going to have someone try to tell me what I need to be; I will decide for myself. If my mom ever asked me to become something, I would be highly upset that she doesn't accept me the way I am. I want to live on my own when I turn 18 so I can focuse on myself and what I want to become. If my mom or gaurdian ever slapped me to do something; I would still not do what they wanted me to do.

Tradition

My family has a tradition of cooking. My mom taught me how to cook spaghetti and easy to learn meals. My mom's mother Georgette didn't teach my mom how to cook because she said that she needed to learn how to cook on her own. My dad taught my sister, brother and I how to make goulash. He told me that it's a special recipe that had been in the family for decades. I want to pass this tradition down to my kids, so they don't have to depend on someone else cooking for them. My sister doesn't like to cook, my brother does and so do I. I love the traditon in our family and I hope it continues to remain that way.

My Input for Staff-Teacher Conference

I am satisfied with the grade that I have in Ms. Priester class currently. I have this grade because I didn't turn in some of my assignments on time so this is also why I have this grade. My strengths in this class are focusing on my work, im a good thinker, and I ask question when I don't understand something. The challenges I face in this class are sitting next to Chelsea and not participating. The things I need to do to maintain my grade are keep doing my homework, participate in class, and do more work. I would like the staff to check everynight to mark off that I did all of my work. Ms. Priester is doing a great job and teaching me everthing I need to do and understand.

"Two Kinds" Conflict Experience

My family and I were on vacation in Las Vegas for a week. My dad and mom let my brother and sister and I go on rides but there was one ride i was terrified of. It was called the Desperado, that was a rollercoaster, that went on top of the hotel. I never wanted to go on it because I am afraid of heights. My mom came and asked me if I would go on it and I said in fear"no." My mom grabbed me and forced me on and told the man to lock me in. I was so scared while we were starting to go up. My stomach had butterflies and I felt I was going to puke. I ducked my head under my seat and all I remember was going down and up reapetedly. When the ride ended I was crying/happy that I made it off alive. I will never do that again and will not have anybody force me on it.

Character Chart

"Character Analysis of Chelsea"

Chelsea is my best friend and she is more than crazy. She's short and fun to be around. Chelsea and I get in a lot of trouble when we're together. She's mean to alot of people and she's also very agressive. She also tends to care about the people she really trusts and cares about. Chelsea cares about most things, if I were sick she would take care of me because she loves me. Chelsea likes to make people laugh by making her own silly songs. We fight sometimes but we know that it's not going to last forever. However, she's just a really cool person to hang around.

“Everyday Use" Character to Person Comparison Paragraph.”

My sister seems very much like Maggie. Shes very quiet, shy and envy's me. The things Maggie and my sister share are currently living with thier gaurdian, something bad has happen to both of them, and thier both very unique. When people come over to visit my family my sister gets very shy and will spend her time in her room until they leave. Hakim tried to introduce himself to her but she got shy and left. Maggie and my sister have special things that belong to them that have been passed down. My sister is really easy, because you can take something from her and she is too shy to ask for it back. These are some of the things that they share in common.

"Everday Use" from Dee's Point of View

I moved out of the house my mom and sister lived in when I was old enough. I remember that when I was little we lived in a house that caught on fire and burnt. My sister got majorly burned when the house was almost down to ashes. I haven't visited home for a long time now. I know my sister Maggie might have been jelous at the fact I didn't get burned and she did. I knew I was beautiful and that my sister was all scarred up. I went to go visit my sister and my mother at thier house. I brought my boyfriend Hakim with me. He tried to introduce himself to Maggie but she got nervous and left to go inside. I was talking to my mother and I saw the churn top and asked her if I could have it. I went into Maggie's room and went to the trunk of the bed and started searching through it. I picked up two quilts that I had found in the trunk. Grandma Dee had made it and it was scraps of the dresses and clothing she used to wear. As a tradition she passed in down to the next generation. My mom told me to get two other quilts because they were Maggie's and they meant something to her. I wanted them because I knew I could take better care of them and my sister couldn't because she's slow. My sister got upset and left the room but had came back to tell me something. "I can 'member Grandma Dee without the quilts." Maggie said to me. My mom snatched the quilts out of my hands and put them in my sisters lap. My mom told me I could have two of the other quilts. I walked outside with Hakim and I told her you just don't understand. She asked what she didn't understand and I told her, her heritage. Then I turned to Maggie and gave her a kiss and told her you ought to make something of yourself, too, Maggie. It's a new day for us. But from the way you and mama still live, you'd never know it.

"Everday Use" Paragraph

My mom has a tradition of cooking that she passed down to me. My mom learned how to cook on her own because her mom never cooked for her because she said she needed how to learn. She is a very great cook. She taught me how to make spaghetti, meat, and a whole bunch of other things. My dad taught my sister, brother and I how to make goulash. I wan't to pass this down to my sister, brother, and my kids. If i didn't they wouldn't know how to cook and would depend on people for the rest of thier lives. I am very glad that my mother taught me how to cook. It great independent skills.

Character Paragraph

In "The Pedestrian," Mead is a non-conformist. He is a non-conformest because he is against technology. Mead loved the outside and wanted to enjoy the life of nature. He was not married so he didn't have anybody to stay inside with him and use technology. He seemed like he was very quite, and didn't like to be stuck inside. He told the automated car that he was a reader. The car asked him what he was doing outside instead of watching t.v. He replied "Walking for air. Walking to see." All together I think that Mead was a very quiet man.

"9/11 Paragraph"

I remember I was 6 years old when a plane crashed into the twin towers. I woke up one morning and my sister and I turned on the television. We saw a plane crashing into some building and we thought it was so amazing, we thought it was part of a movie. We went into my parents bedroom and woke them up. They turned the t.v on and my mom started tearing up. I asked her what was wrong and she explained into to me and my sister. My dad said that he couldn't believe that a terrorist would do such a crazy thing. My sister and I didn't think anything of it because it didn't interfere with my daily schedule. I was only sad when my mom told us that a whole bunch of innocent people had died. I still didn't understand why the terrorist would crash the plane into the twin towers. As I grew older I started to understand that the people who died belonged to a family, and that family lost someone very important to them and must have been devastated. This is how I remembered 9/11.

"The Lady that Lost her Shoe" Vocabulary Post

There was a lady that was missing her shoe and had no idea where it went. So Maggy was looking for it up and down. Her husband, Arnold, swore that she was a hoarder but she swore that she wasn't. She wasn't looking in her closet and found a shoe but it wasn't the shoe. She continued to look under the table, couch, backyard, and in the bathroom. Maggy was very zany about finding that green coverse. She was screaming because when she went into the bathroom she saw a spider and her husban called her a ballyhoo. While she was looking in her bedroom she found a relic neclace that was from her grandmother. Then she though she had found the shoe, so she started cheering and then she tripped. Arnold told her that it was the shoe that already had. He rescinded it out of her hand and told her to keep searching. So maggy searched under the rug and bam there it was. She was very excited that she found it, now she could goo have dinner with her husband. Finally she put her green coverse on and was out the door.

"Mouse in the Cafe Short Story"

The mouse was in the trash looking for dinner when he heard a door slam. Rico came out of the trash and entered the building by sliding under the crack in the door. As he went in he saw people that looked like they were cooking food, saw fire and heard yelling. He didn't want to get caught, the only thing he wanted to do was to get dinner and leave. He ran under the table, slid across the floor and landed in a bowl. The chef picked the bowl and started to pour cake mix into it and realized that Rico was in it. Taylor threw the bowl and tried to kill Rico with a broom. The mouse was running like a cheetah trying to catch his Pray. He ran by the chef in a blink of an eye. He saw a piece of raw bacon that had fallen on the floor, picked it up and kept running. The chef slipped on the ground from where the cake mix had fallen. Rico managed to slip out the door and was relived that he wasn't killed.

"The Pedestrian" Regressive Tendencies Blog Post

I walked in the Psychiatric center, and I was being escorted to a circular room by escalators and aliens. It was really cold and everywhere I turned I saw technology and I was devistated. I walked by this couple that was sucked into the television and said hi and they pulled me down on the floor and made me watch nature. I did not want to be there I just wanted to leave and go explore outside. I asked the Alien Tiko, if I could use the restroom and he told me no. Tiko said they inserted a tube in me that if I had to use the restroom, the tube would clean it out for me. He didn't want me to miss any parts of the nature episode. I asked for some food and the robotic alien popped a sandwhich out of his stomache, it wsa really awkward. I just couldn't believe that this was all happening and it was only 2053.

The author of "The Pedestrian" , Bradbury wrote his story to tell how technology will corrupt society. For example in the year 2053 people no longer go outside , but instead they sit at home to watch television. There is no need for the police because people never left the house. In this story a character named Leonard goes outside for a walk and he gets arrested.Leonard got arrested by an automated talking police car and got sent to a phyciatric hospital to watch tv.Bradbury is trying to prove that technology is an easy way to promote laziness.I think this story is the perfect example of what the future is going to look like.

Life In 2053 "The Pedestrian" Before You Read

It's 10:00am Monday morning and I'm getting ready for work. As I'm getting ready my husband comes home from work and lands his flying truck in the driveway. I wake my kids up for school while the automated maid makes their breakfast. I'm in my jet off to work but on the way I have to stop and get gas. I was on my way to work but then all of a sudden I crashed into a racecar that flew by the red light and didn't even
Stop. I walked into the office and started my work. The only thing I have to do is speak to my computer and it types the letters for me. My co-workers told me that we had a new president of "Glamour In Pink." I wanted to meet him but then they told me he was plastic and could only speak sophisticated words. Well it was time for me to get off work so I clocked myself out with paying a dollar. Life in 2053 to me so far is very different from like current in 2010.
