"What I Learned in English 9/10 Second Quarter."

English Second Quarter 9/10 was very easy for me. I learned a lot by paying attention instead of talking to other people and goofing around. I've been to a lot of different schools and I think this one is the most challenging for me. I like it being challenging because it gets me prepared for college. I've learned things like irony, ambiguity, narrator, voice, character, and theme. I actually like learning about new stuff because it gives me an opportunity to expand my knowledge.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" - I'm the Detective.

If I was a detective investigating the murder of Patrick Maloney in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, I would have arrested her in the suspicion of the murder. She was there when the cops got their so I would have put the blame on her until they found out who actually did it. I also wouldn't eat something that you know might be the murder weapon. Patrick got hit with something large so they should have known they were looking for something big like the lamb leg. Finally I would have called in a forensic team. I would have called them because they're more educated about investigating murders.I would have been an effective detective.

"Lamb to the Slaughter" Mary's Giggling .

At the end of “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Ronald Dahl, Mary Maloney begins giggling because she lied to the police and said she didn't kill her husband. She was very calm during the whole process of people coming in and investigating, which made her seem like she didn't do it. Mary also served the weapon they were looking for to them as dinner. The police thought the weapon was a big metal item so Mary thought while she had a chance to serve them the lamb for supper. Finally she was giggling because while the police were eating supper one of the investigators said it smelled like the weapon was right beneath their nose. The supper that they were eating was the weapon but it's funny to Mary because they didn't know it was the lamb.

If you were in Mary shoes would you:
Leave him on the floor
Bury his body
Blame it on someone else
Tell them that you did it by accident
Run as soon as the cops got thier

"Situational Irony in My Life."

Back when I lived with my mom when I was between the ages 7-12 I took on the role of a parent. I had to take care of my brother and sister because my mom was always drunk and rarely home. I would cook for them, get them ready for school, bathe them, clean the house, help them with thier homework, and make sure they got on the bus for school.I didn't really get to do anything that normal kids my age were able to.Even though I wanted to give up, I knew it was my brother and sister so I couldn't.

“First Persuasive Paragraph.”

In 2010 Social networking sites allow family and friends to stay in contact easily without having to go on an airplane. Unfortunately students here aren't allowed to go on social networking sites because students abuse the privilege. I believe this should be changed. Most students use it for positive things and not negative. For example, they could just be going on the sites to talk to close relatives or friends instead of posting inappropriate pictures and talking to strangers. Many adults don't trust teenagers to be appropriate on the Internet, but not all teenagers are the same. Social networking sites are very beneficial and should not be banned due to the few people who chose not to cooperate.

"The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" and "Catch the Moon" Theme Comparison Essay.

Love has a variety of effects on people. When it is pure it can change people for the better and heal their pain. “ Catch the Moon” was written by a Puerto Rican American woman and is set in the Caribbean Hispanic Barrio. “ The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant was written by a Caucasian man from New Hampshire and is set in a New England summer home waterfront community. In “Catch the Moon” and “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” The main character a teenage boy, believes himself to be in love with a beautiful girlhe just met. However, In “Catch the Moon,” Luis feelings for Naomi redeem him by inspiring to return to acts of goodness. In “The Bass, The River and Sheila Mant,” The fourteen yearold boy realizes that “loving” one for their looks is shallow and futile.
In the story “The bass, the River and Sheila Mant” the main character is a boy who loves to fish. The boy falls in love with a girl named Sheila Mant but she hates fishing. He decided to take Sheila out of a canoe, on a date, and ends up catching a bass. He decides to let the bass go and later regrets his actions. In the story the main character says “There would be other Sheila Mants in my life, other fish, and though I came close once or twice, it was the these secrets, hiding tuggings in the night that claimed me, and I never made the samemistake again”. The character changes because he learns not to give up something he loves for a girl who is ungrateful. The theme of this story is that a person shouldn’t have to change who they are for another person to like them, even if they are in love.
The main character of “Catch the Moon” is a boy named Luis who lives in the Hispanic Barrio. He is dealing with the loss of his mother and the pain he had been hiding for years. He went to jail for breaking into a house, and was told by the court that he owed free labor to his father who worked in a car junk yard. He meets a girl, who’s family owns the funeral service that helped with his mother’s funeral, who he likes. She is missing a hubcap for her old Volkswagen buggie and Luis makes it his duty to find it. While Luis looks for the hubcap he starts to think about his mother, and how much he never realized how much he missed her. He found the hubcap for the girl and, started to change when he realized how the girl made him think about his mother. He broke down crying when he thought about his mother and how much he never grieved for her and missed her. Some people change when they are unable to grieve for someone they had lost, sometimes they look for attention by doing things that are wrong, and showing love and grief for someone they lost can be difficult, but it is always important to let go and grieve.
Love can control, and change people. It can change their behaviors and their action. It can heal, and hurt. Never change in the loss of someone you love and never loose something you love for some else. Many people change in the presence of others, and at the loss of someone close to them. Many people hide their grief, and their love for other things, but it is always good to some your love for something and someone you love. Hiding feelings for something or someone can be a mistake that can affect people in the long run. Grief and acceptance is something many people should learn and know.

“Catch the Moon” Grief Paragraph.

The change Luis experiences after he address the grief he feels for his mother’s death is believable. Luis started to become a bad kid after his mother died. He started hanging out with people that taught him that wrong was the right way to go. Luis's dad made a statement that Naomi reminded him of Luis's mother when she was young. Maybe the dad's statement is what started to make Luis change. In the end Naomi say Luis crying and that also could have changed him. In real life, my mom and my dad seperated when I was 11 and after that my brother, sister and I started to become to much for anyone to handle. Finally, we realized that they weren't getting back together and we just needed to accept it.

Homeroom Reform Essay: New Computers

SPA students, if they had laptops they wouldn’t come in to class and say that they lost their homework assignment. San Pasqual Academy has not reached its full potential because it does not have all the supplies it needs. SPA needs new materials in order for these students to finish their tasks.

We believe that if SPA had a new set of computers on campus, more students would be able to finish their assignments on time. This will work if we had up to date computers running properly and quicker therefore, students will be able to learn and accomplish daily work. It needs funding because it would make grades go up and the computers that we have lack several of those requirements. If we had these needs met the students grades should improve drastically.

If we had new computers that the students could work on, they wouldn’t have an excuse to say they lost their homework. This would help me personally because I would be able to do my schoolwork and complete assignments. Another way it would help me is to improve my technology skills. That’s why getting new computers would benefit me personally.

The contributions that made towards the purchase of new computers would also benefit students in realizing the cost of a computer. They way I have already worked on this project is by informing teachers we need better technology in order to maintain or improve our grades. Another way I have helped this project is having a specific time I use the computer in order for other kids to get their work done. In realizing the cost of a computer, students will take their computer assignments more seriously.

If we had new computers for our school it would help the teachers take into consideration giving more assignments online instead of paper. The way the project will help the students of SPA is would teach them how to conserve materials such as paper. Another the way the project will help the Students of SPA is helping them with their typing and technology skills. Overall, computer will help the environment and the students of San Pasqual Academy.

I believe that if SPA had a new set of computers, students should be able to accomplish daily tasks that are assigned to them. If we had new computers there would be more assignments turned in. Students might also respect the purchase of a new computer. Finally, teachers would take into consideration conserving paper if we had new computers. I feel that if this campus had a new set of computers, completing assignments would be less stressful.

I wrote this essay by myself. I wrote it for the KNSD Homeroom Essay Contest.

"SPA Movie & Games Day Paragraph."

Friday, I woke up in a good mood then it started to get horrible. I came to class and there was a lot of people crammed into a little room and I felt uncomfortable. Kiki, Amy and I when up to the office and on the way back I had a panic attack. After that I came back to the tech center and sat in the hallway and watched the movie "Freedom Writers." We went to the gym and watched people play basketball and volleyball. The sophmores won the basketball game which was pretty cool. Then I watched the volleyball game and the students were really hyped up. Finally, after I went home and watched television with my house.

"SPA Theme Song."

"Make It Shine" by Victorious Cast

Here I am
Once again
Feeling lost but now and then

I breathe it in
To let it go

And you don't know where you are now
Or what it would come to
If only somebody could hear

When you figure out how
Your lost in the moment
You disappear

(Chorus)
You don't have to be afraid
To put your dream in action
Your never gonna fade
You'll be the main attraction

Not a fantasy
Just remember me
When it turns out right

Cause you know that if you live in
Your imagination
Tomorrow you'll
Be everybody's fascination

In my victory
Just remember me
When I make it shine

This song represents San Pasqual because it's basically saying that people are going to have bad days and then good days. SPA represents a place where foster youth receive more opportunities than they may get somewhere else. "You don't have to be afraid to put your dreams in action" basically states that youth could do whatever they want to do in life. " Just remember me when I make it shine," to me means that kids could graduate from here and be successful, and the kids who didn't are going to remember the ones that used all the opportunities that SPA gave. This song is indicative of the way I perceive San Pasqual.

“’The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant’ compared to “I’m Gonna Miss Her.”

"The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" compares to Brad Paisley's song "I'm Gonna Miss Her" in some ways. The narrator in the story chose Sheila over the fish he had hooked on the line. In the song the man chose the fish over the girl and he regreted that he chose the fish. In the story the fourteen year old boy choses the girl over the fish and he regreted that he chose the girl over the fish. For example in "I'm Gonna Miss Her" in his line he states, "That I'm gonna miss her. " This seems that he should of chose her over the fish. In the story, Sheila says that shes going to get a ride home from another boy. For example, the boy cuts his line loose, but when Sheila told him that he said he would never make the same mistake again. Both the story and the song show that their isn't just one right decision.

Internal and External Conflicts in “The Bass, The River, And Sheila Mant.”

In the story “The Bass, The River, And Sheila Mant,” The narrator faces both external and internal conflict. The internal conflict is the fish and Sheila. He doesn't know which one he wants to chose. The external conflict is the fish. He hooked the bass in the river, and he knew it was the biggest one he caught yet. He didn't want sheila to see the fish that he had caught. The external was resolved in this story was that he cut the line the fish was hooked to. As a result of these conflicts the narrator changes by never making the same mistake again.

"Catch the Moon" Falling in Love.

I believe that falling in love does change a person. When people start to love someone their behavior usually tends to change. For example, I've noticed that people get caught up in their love cycle that they start to ignore the people they care about. When someone in a relationship is upset the usually won't talk to anyone but if their "love" comes it seems to brighten their day. On the other hand, when that person is upset they take it out on the ones they love the most. When falling in love, people are motivated by trust and personality.

Halloween Memory

Kayla was getting ready to go trick or treating when she got mad that she couldn't find her costume. She was upset at the fact her brother took her costume and dressed the dog. Kayla was so mad she began screaming and cursing at her brother. She went into the garage and tried talking if off the dog when her mom came in the side door and scared her. She started screaming and took the trashcan and tossed it across the door almost hitting her mom. Kayla's mom took off the mask and Kayla ran up to her and gave her a hug and told her never to do that again because she had gotten startled. After Kayla had calmed down her mom, sister, brother and her went out to go collect candy and have a good night.

“’The "Highwayman" and "Typhoid Fever" Comparison.

In the two stories "Typhoid Fever" and "Highwayman" there are a lot of similar details. In "Typhoid fever," Patricia was not aloud to talk to Frank because of the the different diseases they had; and Bess, the landlord's daughter, was not aloud to talk to man because the dad would not approve of it. The nuns, and the father wouldn't let the girl talk to the boy. In both stories the girls fall in love with the men they are not allowed to talk to. In " Highwayman" the girls Bess dies because she was tied down, with a gun pointed at her and if she moved if would set off. Then in "Typhoid fever" Patricia dies while going into the bathroom and collapsed. It was important that Frank heard the ending of "Highwayman" because he wanted to see if he was experiencing the same feeling for Patricia as the Highwayman was for Bess.

“’Typhoid Fever’– Present Tense Childhood Memory.”

I am around seven years old and we are at my uncles house. My sister, brother and I are staying the night because my parents went on a vacation. My uncle had asked us if we want to play a game and we said it depends on the game. He makes us think of 10 games that we want to play until he tells us the one we are actually going to participate in. I notice his ring finger is missing. We all ask him how he lost his finger and he gives us a sarcastic answer. Billie tells us that he lost his finger under the couch; and the game we are going to play is find the finger. We all believed him because we were all young. My sister, brother and I are searching for hours around the house and couldn't find his finger. He had us searching to what it seemed like forever. Finally we gave up and layed on the couch. He then told us that he had to tell us something. Uncle Billie told us that he forgot he vacuumed it up when he was vacuuming. We all started laughing and told him that we forgave him for making us look. Now that I'm fifteen I can't believe I fell for any of that.

“The Storyteller” from Another Point of View.”

My sister, sister and I were extremely bored on the train so we started asking my aunt a lot of questions. I started smacking the cushions of the seat, producing a cloud of dust at each blow. Then my aunt told us to come over to the window so all three of us went. I thought to myself " can this day get any more boring?" We started asking a lot of questions like " Why are they being driven out of that field?" I could tell that my aunt was getting really annoyed with us that we kept asking her questions. Then my aunt asked us if we wanted to hear a story so we went to go sit by her. There was a look on the bachelor's face was deepening into a scowl. He was very unsympathetic. Then our aunt began telling the story and we started interrupting her and asking questions about the girl. The story was about a girl who did good things, and then good things that happened to her. I didn't listen to the first part, but it was so stupid. Then my aunt got into an argument with the bachelor about the story. Then the bachelor told us a story. We asked some questions, but not a lot. After he got done he he left us in amusement. It was the most beautiful story ever. Then our aunt thought that the story was improper to tell young children like our age. I could see that she was getting mad and frustrated. Then as the bachelor got off he told my aunt " Well at least I could keep them quiet for ten minutes, which more more than you were able to do." My aunt, anywhere we go I know shes going to be disappointed by my sister, sister and I.

“’The Storyteller’ - Memorable Books from My Childhood.”

When I was little I never really read anybooks and if I did they would have to be interesting. Some of the five books t hat stood out to me when I was little are:The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, Are You My Mother? by Philip D. Eastman, Curious George by Hans Augusto Rey, Clifford, the Big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by John Archambault. Out of those five books my favorite was Chika Chika Boom Boom. I like this story because it teaches the alphabet in a fun memorable way.A told B and B told C, " I'll met you at the top of the coconut tree."The colors stood out, the poka dotted edges, letters and different shades of green for the coconut tree caught my attention. I reminded of this book often because my brother has it.

“Chilean Miners Rescue."

33 Chilean minors working in a copper mine in the Atacama desert when it collapsed trapping them inside for more than two months. This event didn't affect me personally. On the other hand if It was somebody I knew I would be in shock or even devastation mode. Rescuers told the minors that it was going to take them about two days to get them out; it actually only took twenty-two hours. I'm glad that the rescuers got them all out in one day so their wouldn't be any that was left alone. There was more than eight hundred journalists and cameramen surrounding the site. I would not want a whole bunch of people around me while I was being rescued; it would be scary. After each minor was rescued and was at the surface they got to greet three of their family members. I would be full of joy to know that when I got out a disaster like that, my family would be waiting for me to tell me that everything was ok. If I was in the minors shoes I would scared of staying somewhere, being stuck to other people and not dying. This whole event that occured was scary but didn't affect my personal life.

“Autobiographical Narrative Reflection.”

The things I thing I did best on was writing more paragraphs than I was supose to. I also gave some paragraphs awesome details, and didn't use below grade level writing. The things I need to do differently on my paragraph next time are to re-read over it multiple times, use a lot more advanced details and make sure that I am satisfied with it. Ms. Priester could help me more by having me come in during both of our free time and going over the things I don't understand and could tell me what I need to work on more.

“Two Kinds” In the Shoes of a Prodigy

If someone pushed me into be a prodigy I would be frustrated and upset. I wouldn't want someone telling me what I need to be. I'm not going to have someone try to tell me what I need to be; I will decide for myself. If my mom ever asked me to become something, I would be highly upset that she doesn't accept me the way I am. I want to live on my own when I turn 18 so I can focuse on myself and what I want to become. If my mom or gaurdian ever slapped me to do something; I would still not do what they wanted me to do.

Tradition

My family has a tradition of cooking. My mom taught me how to cook spaghetti and easy to learn meals. My mom's mother Georgette didn't teach my mom how to cook because she said that she needed to learn how to cook on her own. My dad taught my sister, brother and I how to make goulash. He told me that it's a special recipe that had been in the family for decades. I want to pass this tradition down to my kids, so they don't have to depend on someone else cooking for them. My sister doesn't like to cook, my brother does and so do I. I love the traditon in our family and I hope it continues to remain that way.

My Input for Staff-Teacher Conference

I am satisfied with the grade that I have in Ms. Priester class currently. I have this grade because I didn't turn in some of my assignments on time so this is also why I have this grade. My strengths in this class are focusing on my work, im a good thinker, and I ask question when I don't understand something. The challenges I face in this class are sitting next to Chelsea and not participating. The things I need to do to maintain my grade are keep doing my homework, participate in class, and do more work. I would like the staff to check everynight to mark off that I did all of my work. Ms. Priester is doing a great job and teaching me everthing I need to do and understand.

"Two Kinds" Conflict Experience

My family and I were on vacation in Las Vegas for a week. My dad and mom let my brother and sister and I go on rides but there was one ride i was terrified of. It was called the Desperado, that was a rollercoaster, that went on top of the hotel. I never wanted to go on it because I am afraid of heights. My mom came and asked me if I would go on it and I said in fear"no." My mom grabbed me and forced me on and told the man to lock me in. I was so scared while we were starting to go up. My stomach had butterflies and I felt I was going to puke. I ducked my head under my seat and all I remember was going down and up reapetedly. When the ride ended I was crying/happy that I made it off alive. I will never do that again and will not have anybody force me on it.

"Character Analysis of Chelsea"

Chelsea is my best friend and she is more than crazy. She's short and fun to be around. Chelsea and I get in a lot of trouble when we're together. She's mean to alot of people and she's also very agressive. She also tends to care about the people she really trusts and cares about. Chelsea cares about most things, if I were sick she would take care of me because she loves me. Chelsea likes to make people laugh by making her own silly songs. We fight sometimes but we know that it's not going to last forever. However, she's just a really cool person to hang around.

“Everyday Use" Character to Person Comparison Paragraph.”

My sister seems very much like Maggie. Shes very quiet, shy and envy's me. The things Maggie and my sister share are currently living with thier gaurdian, something bad has happen to both of them, and thier both very unique. When people come over to visit my family my sister gets very shy and will spend her time in her room until they leave. Hakim tried to introduce himself to her but she got shy and left. Maggie and my sister have special things that belong to them that have been passed down. My sister is really easy, because you can take something from her and she is too shy to ask for it back. These are some of the things that they share in common.

"Everday Use" from Dee's Point of View

I moved out of the house my mom and sister lived in when I was old enough. I remember that when I was little we lived in a house that caught on fire and burnt. My sister got majorly burned when the house was almost down to ashes. I haven't visited home for a long time now. I know my sister Maggie might have been jelous at the fact I didn't get burned and she did. I knew I was beautiful and that my sister was all scarred up. I went to go visit my sister and my mother at thier house. I brought my boyfriend Hakim with me. He tried to introduce himself to Maggie but she got nervous and left to go inside. I was talking to my mother and I saw the churn top and asked her if I could have it. I went into Maggie's room and went to the trunk of the bed and started searching through it. I picked up two quilts that I had found in the trunk. Grandma Dee had made it and it was scraps of the dresses and clothing she used to wear. As a tradition she passed in down to the next generation. My mom told me to get two other quilts because they were Maggie's and they meant something to her. I wanted them because I knew I could take better care of them and my sister couldn't because she's slow. My sister got upset and left the room but had came back to tell me something. "I can 'member Grandma Dee without the quilts." Maggie said to me. My mom snatched the quilts out of my hands and put them in my sisters lap. My mom told me I could have two of the other quilts. I walked outside with Hakim and I told her you just don't understand. She asked what she didn't understand and I told her, her heritage. Then I turned to Maggie and gave her a kiss and told her you ought to make something of yourself, too, Maggie. It's a new day for us. But from the way you and mama still live, you'd never know it.

"Everday Use" Paragraph

My mom has a tradition of cooking that she passed down to me. My mom learned how to cook on her own because her mom never cooked for her because she said she needed how to learn. She is a very great cook. She taught me how to make spaghetti, meat, and a whole bunch of other things. My dad taught my sister, brother and I how to make goulash. I wan't to pass this down to my sister, brother, and my kids. If i didn't they wouldn't know how to cook and would depend on people for the rest of thier lives. I am very glad that my mother taught me how to cook. It great independent skills.

Character Paragraph

In "The Pedestrian," Mead is a non-conformist. He is a non-conformest because he is against technology. Mead loved the outside and wanted to enjoy the life of nature. He was not married so he didn't have anybody to stay inside with him and use technology. He seemed like he was very quite, and didn't like to be stuck inside. He told the automated car that he was a reader. The car asked him what he was doing outside instead of watching t.v. He replied "Walking for air. Walking to see." All together I think that Mead was a very quiet man.

"9/11 Paragraph"

I remember I was 6 years old when a plane crashed into the twin towers. I woke up one morning and my sister and I turned on the television. We saw a plane crashing into some building and we thought it was so amazing, we thought it was part of a movie. We went into my parents bedroom and woke them up. They turned the t.v on and my mom started tearing up. I asked her what was wrong and she explained into to me and my sister. My dad said that he couldn't believe that a terrorist would do such a crazy thing. My sister and I didn't think anything of it because it didn't interfere with my daily schedule. I was only sad when my mom told us that a whole bunch of innocent people had died. I still didn't understand why the terrorist would crash the plane into the twin towers. As I grew older I started to understand that the people who died belonged to a family, and that family lost someone very important to them and must have been devastated. This is how I remembered 9/11.

"The Lady that Lost her Shoe" Vocabulary Post

There was a lady that was missing her shoe and had no idea where it went. So Maggy was looking for it up and down. Her husband, Arnold, swore that she was a hoarder but she swore that she wasn't. She wasn't looking in her closet and found a shoe but it wasn't the shoe. She continued to look under the table, couch, backyard, and in the bathroom. Maggy was very zany about finding that green coverse. She was screaming because when she went into the bathroom she saw a spider and her husban called her a ballyhoo. While she was looking in her bedroom she found a relic neclace that was from her grandmother. Then she though she had found the shoe, so she started cheering and then she tripped. Arnold told her that it was the shoe that already had. He rescinded it out of her hand and told her to keep searching. So maggy searched under the rug and bam there it was. She was very excited that she found it, now she could goo have dinner with her husband. Finally she put her green coverse on and was out the door.

"Mouse in the Cafe Short Story"

The mouse was in the trash looking for dinner when he heard a door slam. Rico came out of the trash and entered the building by sliding under the crack in the door. As he went in he saw people that looked like they were cooking food, saw fire and heard yelling. He didn't want to get caught, the only thing he wanted to do was to get dinner and leave. He ran under the table, slid across the floor and landed in a bowl. The chef picked the bowl and started to pour cake mix into it and realized that Rico was in it. Taylor threw the bowl and tried to kill Rico with a broom. The mouse was running like a cheetah trying to catch his Pray. He ran by the chef in a blink of an eye. He saw a piece of raw bacon that had fallen on the floor, picked it up and kept running. The chef slipped on the ground from where the cake mix had fallen. Rico managed to slip out the door and was relived that he wasn't killed.

"The Pedestrian" Regressive Tendencies Blog Post

I walked in the Psychiatric center, and I was being escorted to a circular room by escalators and aliens. It was really cold and everywhere I turned I saw technology and I was devistated. I walked by this couple that was sucked into the television and said hi and they pulled me down on the floor and made me watch nature. I did not want to be there I just wanted to leave and go explore outside. I asked the Alien Tiko, if I could use the restroom and he told me no. Tiko said they inserted a tube in me that if I had to use the restroom, the tube would clean it out for me. He didn't want me to miss any parts of the nature episode. I asked for some food and the robotic alien popped a sandwhich out of his stomache, it wsa really awkward. I just couldn't believe that this was all happening and it was only 2053.

The author of "The Pedestrian" , Bradbury wrote his story to tell how technology will corrupt society. For example in the year 2053 people no longer go outside , but instead they sit at home to watch television. There is no need for the police because people never left the house. In this story a character named Leonard goes outside for a walk and he gets arrested.Leonard got arrested by an automated talking police car and got sent to a phyciatric hospital to watch tv.Bradbury is trying to prove that technology is an easy way to promote laziness.I think this story is the perfect example of what the future is going to look like.

Life In 2053 "The Pedestrian" Before You Read

It's 10:00am Monday morning and I'm getting ready for work. As I'm getting ready my husband comes home from work and lands his flying truck in the driveway. I wake my kids up for school while the automated maid makes their breakfast. I'm in my jet off to work but on the way I have to stop and get gas. I was on my way to work but then all of a sudden I crashed into a racecar that flew by the red light and didn't even
Stop. I walked into the office and started my work. The only thing I have to do is speak to my computer and it types the letters for me. My co-workers told me that we had a new president of "Glamour In Pink." I wanted to meet him but then they told me he was plastic and could only speak sophisticated words. Well it was time for me to get off work so I clocked myself out with paying a dollar. Life in 2053 to me so far is very different from like current in 2010.

Paralyzed by Fear

July 3rd 2008 was the worst day of my life. I remember being in pain 3 days in a row and this day was the most painful. The staff at my recent group home took me to Tri-City Emergency Room. I was having pain on my lower left abdomin. They got me into a room were I was waiting for like an hour before the docotr cam in and saw me. When he did he told me that they needed to give me a at-scan. I was scared but I just wanted my excruciating pain to go away. The doctor from the cat-scan department came and got me and wheeled me away. I had to lay on a table and I couldn't move. After I got done he took me back to my room and wait for the results. Te doctor came in twenty minutes later and said that I did have a problem but it was to big for the screen to see. So then they ordered me an ultra sound. The female docotor came and got me and started to put the warm jelly on my stomach. I screamed the whole time she did it because she was pressing on my stomach with all the strength she had. She brought me back to my room and I was hardcore crying that people were staring at me but I didn't care. I was scared that I was going to need sugery but the staff told me not to worry. the doctor finally came in and told me that I needed to be rushed down to Children's Hospital for an emergency surgery. He told me that I had a tumor that was the size of a twinkie on my overy, and that my falopian tube was rapped around my overy three times. So an abulance came and put me in the back and took me to Children's. When I got there they put me in a room and the nurses gave me a cathader. Then my surgeon Dr. Sinez and Anesthesisiologist came and told me what they were going to do. My surgeon told me that if I would had not come in the next twenty-four hours I would have died. I was scared when he said that; I was also afraid of not making it through the surgery alive. They wheeled me into the procerdure room and layed me on a table. The lady said count to five and I was knocked out. I honestly don't even remember counting to one. It took two hours to fix my problem. I woke up in the recovery room and I saw all of my family standing over me and crying. I cried because I was actually glad that I woke up. I stayed in the hospital for a week and four days before I could finally go back home. This was the time I was paralyzed by fear.

"Content's of the Dead Man's Pocket" Yellow Paper Paragraph

Honestly the only possessions I have that I think are really important to me are my sister and brother. I think if I lost them it would devastate me that they were gone forever. It would make me realize that I never spend enough time with them, I was mean to them, and how selfish I was. If I never lost them I'm pretty sure that I would continue to do the same pattern every time I saw them. They would think that I didn't care for them and that they were not important to me. Also, if I lost them I would live a lot healthier lifestyle. I wouldn't be so rude to them because what if I lost those people also, I would feel horrible.

Content's of the Dead Man's Pocket Paragraph

In the story "Content's of the Dead Man's pocket" Tom Benecke makes a very Life threatning decision. He decides to go out the window ledge to get a paper or work that had blown out the window. When he did go out the window and got the piece of paper he realized that he puts to much time into his work than with his wife. If he had not grabbed the yellow piece of paper he still would be focused on his work than spending time with Clare. She would of probably wanted to go spend time with him like go to see a premire in theater. Tom wouldn't of known how Clare felt because she didn't tell him; but he probably would still be comitted to his work. It's good that a life threating decision changed his mind about the way he looked at things.

Homework or Friend's Post

I would definently pick homework over friend's anyday. I come home and do my homework after school, that way I have the rest of the day to hang out with my friends. My homework is important to me because If I don't do my work I'm not going to end up no where in life. If my friend's were really my friends they would understand that my homework comes first. I would love to go to college but that includes graduating from high school and being independent. I don't want to be the person that sits under a tree with my friends all day and smoke weed. That would mean I achieved nothing at life and smoking blunts is the best way to go. Overall i just think that homework is way more important than friends.

Everyday when I come home from school, I come home to the same issues. I feel that I am way to mature to be in the house that I am in presently. Several girls in my house are very immature for thier age and don't know how to respect people or their privacy. They curse our houseparents out, constantly start drama with the other girls, and don't knock when they're coming into people's rooms. I never go off campus unless i'm going on pass because I don't want to put up with childish games. The girls in my house steal, and make rude remarks about people on the outings. I chose to not really be that kind of person. The house as a whole can't even sit down without someone having something rude to say. When we're watching a movie and someone is talking, the other person will repeatedly be rude. I really want to remain in this house but if I do things need to change. I'm starting to get comfortable with my houseparents and I wouldn't want to move because of the Girls in my house. Overall at this moment, i'm just frusrated/dissapointed at my house.

Memorable Birthday

It was a sweltering Saturday afternoon, when I was celebrating my sister and my 10th birthday. I remember a lot of people being there and I was exicted that they brought me present's. My mom went on Camp penalton and got us a jumper to set up in the back yard. So my friends, sister, and brother spent all day having fun/messing around. When we got out my made had relay races set up for us to play. One of them was that you had to get a piece of bubble gum that was burried on a plate full of whip cream. After we got the piece of gum we had to blow a bubble and the first one that did won a prize. Finally, it came time and my sister and I got to open all of our presents. I got a whole buch of money, clothes and barbie dolls. Overall I had a pretty good day and it was the most memorable birthday I ever had.

Most Embarassing Moment

It was a cold, muggy weekday around 8:15am. I was in 5th grade, and I was in a rush to get to school because I was already late. When my mom dropped me off I went straight to the office to get a pass. There were a numerous amount of kids in front of me waiting for that same pass. I was next in line and the lady asked what my name was, and I said Heather. She wrote the pass and I was off to class. Well I was running and there was this hill that we had to go over to get to my classroom. While I was running I tripped and flew over the hill and rolled onto the cement and got scratches all over me. The other kids were laughing at me while they were on the way to their class. I got up and started crying because it hurt and the other kids were taunting me. So I went to the nurse’s office and she cleaned and wrapped my knee for me. Then she gave me a pass to class and told me to be careful. I made sure I was careful because I didn’t want to fall and have the same thing happen to me. Overall it was embarrassing, but when I think of it now it was actually pretty funny.

Weekend Post

When I woke up Saturday around 10:00am I was still tired, but I got up and got ready for the day. Alliyah came into my room after I got out the shower and asked me if I could do her makeup and I said sure. I was still not dressed and it was kind of akward doing her makeup in my towel. After, I got ready and went outside and layed in the grass and stared at the sky. I consider laying in the grass by myself a thinking area for me. It felt really good outside: it wasn't to cold but it wasn't to hot. I managed to stay out there all day until dinner hour. When I came in for dinner hour I went into my room and layed on my bed. While I was laying on my bed I realized I still had to finish my homework. Alliyah arrived back and she and I did our homework together. The Biology homework was easy. At 6:30pm we went outside and sat in the grass and talked to each other about what was going on with us. Then next thing you know it was 10:00pm and it was time for us to go inside. Overall, I had a pretty good weekend and at least I got to spend it with my friends.

First Day of School

Yesterday was my first day of school and it was fantastic. I have 2 favorite classes so far which are Spanish and Biology. I like Spanish because I feel comfortable with all of the kids in there and there aren't that many. I also like Biology because I want to major in Forensic Science and I think it's interesting. I felt extremely tired in the morning, but after 3rd period I was hyper. This school year I plan on having good grades and being very involved in school activites.

Back to School

It was a little to early to go back to school but it has been good so far. I like my third and fourth period so far; there's not a lot of kids in it. I think this year it's going to be fun but challenging and I'm willing to step up to the plate and try.

You can also spell a picture and play with the doodle pad. It's OK for teenagers when their bored; I drew a picture but deleted it.

Live Animal Cams

I watched a live cam about a Clouded Leopard. It wasn't really doing anything exciting; all it did was walk around. I also watched Lions, Panda's and Naked Mole Rats. The most intersting one I watched was the Naked Mole Rat. They were really ugly and didn't have any hair.

Summer School

I realized that summer school isn't all that bad. I have never been to summer school until I arrived here. I had to make up second quarter. I finished all of my work so I don't have to take the last session of summer school. So this weekend I stayed on campus. Saturday I stayed on campus and spent the day at Chelsea's house. Then Yesterday we went to Walmart and I pushed chelsea in the cart. We got some things and then we went home. On our way home Alliyah, Chelsea and I were really hyper in the car; I think it was the icecream. I had fun this weekend.

Yesterday It was Jennifer's birthday and my house social worker brought her cupcakes. She had care bears rings in them. I took 3 of her rings and went to the office. Chelsea and I were up there talking to Robin about certain things and stuff. There were 3 boys getting interviews by Tia. We asked them if they liked it here and they said no. Then we got to talk to Tia, so we went in to her office. After we left we went home for dinner hour. When study hour was done Chelsea and I went outside. It was a crazy night. People got in a fight, people went AWOL and it turns out they were on the very top of the mountain, somebody had an allergic reaction, and two people from a different facility awoled and came her. Yesterday for me it was just an awkward day.

Friday-BBQ

Friday I went to the bbq and to me it was boring. The only part I really liked about it was going to the gym to watch the kids compete against eachother. Chelsea, Kiki, and I were by the gym and we were just talking about random things that we've done. Kristen was crying and I went up to her and talked to her about what was wrong. She felt better after I talked to her. I was watching the kids jump in the jumper. When Kiki was in there she got kicked by Emily. I will neverr go in one of those it seems to dangerous. Then Mr. Major told us we had to go to lunch and if we didn't want to eat just to socialize. Other than it I went home and lingered around the house.

Blog Value

This blog actually has helped me learn how to have better technology skills. I actually enjoy writing my thoughts onto here that way everybody has a chance to read what's on my mind. It's really cool that I can go onto other people's blog and read about things that happened or are going on in thier life. I would have never thought of making a blog and sharing my ideas with people if it wasn't for Ms. Priester. Other than that I really enjoy having a blog.

Business Letter

17701 San Pasqual Valley Road
Escondido, CA 92025
April 27, 2010
Escondido CA, 92025

Mr. Ron Major
Principal of San Pasqual Academy
17701 San Pasqual Valley Road
Escondido CA, 92025

Dear Mr. Major:

I am writing to persuade you to consider changing student-teacher here at San Pasqual Academy. Since you are the principal, you have the power make a difference. I hope that you are willing to take my concern into consideration. I personally could use more one on one time with a teacher that could help me understand.

I would like to see this change occur because there are a lot of students that either have an F or low G.P.A. These students, if they got time with a teacher their grade or grade point average would rise significantly. 7th period isn’t good enough to say that there is a great amount of communication because there is not. There are at least 20 students in there Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Ms. Priester doesn’t really have time just to focus and give the student’s the time they need to understand their work. Each classroom should have more teacher assistants who are learned in the subject(s). Most T.A’s just grades papers and take attendance. Ms. Raquel for example is a great and helpful T.A and we need more like her. She helps the student read over their papers and helps them with work they missed or did not understand.

Thank you in advance for taking time out of your day to read this letter. I hope you can understand where I am coming from. I look forward to getting the results back from you in person or letter. I really appreciate your time and taking this request into consideration.

Sincerely,

Heather W.

Letter To Daughter

Dear Daughter,

I made it so that you could only use the computer for a hour and a half everyday and I will be checking up on you from time to time. I feel that their are people that you should not be talking to online like cyber predators. Every site that you will go to you will write down what site you went to and for how long.I f I do find out that you are talking to people you do not know you will be on restriction for 2 days. This should teach you not to talk to predators online. Also, don't give out your address, phone number and don't submit or post any sexual pictures of yourself.

I am making sure that you do not get hurt form unknown people. Most predators want to provoke you to a sexual conversation that may make you feel uncomfortable. I want you to recognize that once you start talking to strangers it's going to be hard to get yourself out of that situation. If anyone calls the house that I think you may have met online, I am going to ask that person he or she questions. When they tell me that you have been talking to them online for a while, you and I will sit down and have a long talk.

You are only 15 years old and I hope that you will listen to me and make good decisions while online.I don't expect you to approve of this letter but I really care about your safety. If I catch you talking to cyber predators and either of the consequences worked; I will take the internet cord. This will prove to me that you obviously don't worry about your safety. Just try to be careful and remember I will be watching you from time to time while using the computer.

Yesterday after school I went home and talked to Barbara my house social worker. I was suppose to go to court today but I wasn't up to go. Every time I go, the judge says the same thing and by now its annoying. So Chelsea and I went outside but there was no where to go. We were going to go out front but I'm on supervised. I saw Chau and she was roaming out front and I asked her to supervise me. She said yea so we sat in the grass in front of the Girl's rec and just talked. It going boring after a while so we decided to go home. When I got home I went into my room and started my homework. Then at 7:30 I went out with Chelsea. I went home because there was nothing to do outside. I went into my room, finished my homework, took a shower and went to bed.

American History Article

I never thought that day was going to happen. My name is Elena and I'm very skinny and have a flat body. I like to read and stare out my window because I could see in the house below us. Eugene is this really cute kid that I like, that just moved into the house below us. He is tall has blond hair and wears glasses. I got to know Eugene When I "accidentally" bumped into him in the hallway of our school. We talked and ever since then, we walk home everyday together. On
November 22, 1963 two things happened to me. Eugene asked me to come over to study for the American history test tomorrow and I told him I would. That same day November 22, 1963 I found out from my p.e teacher that president John F. Kennedy was dead. This day was important to me because I was actually going to get to spend time with Eugene. I learned that this day November 22,1963 is important to Americans because he was a very well liked president, when he got shot, the camera guy caught in on video , and he was the second current president assassinated. My family and I live in Patterson,
New Jersey in a place called The Puerto Rican Tenement know as El Building.

Career Day

This morning was Career Day. I had a good time walking around and learning about different job types. First we went to learn about occupational therapy. The ladies spoke to us about what the difference was between occupational therapy and physical therapy. Then we went into the auditorium and there was a whole bunch of different stands to choose from. Becky, Chanda, Amy, Nora and I went to the National Guard station. He gave us a book called "Guide To PAYING For Your College Education." Then we went to the Firefighters station. It was fun we were just talking about how they put on their suits so fast and what fires they have been in. Frazier also told us how much everything weighs when they put theirs gear on. It approximately weighs 30-40 pounds. Overall I had a good morning learning about the different careers.

Earthquake

At 3:45pm, I was sitting on the couch when the 7.2 Earthquake hit. I thought someone was moving the couch.I turned around and there was no one there. Then Teresa the staff, told everyone the table was moving. The items on the house started shaking really bad. Then all the kids from all the houses ran outside. If there was damage done, the students would of had got seriously injured. I honestly thought we were all going to die. Afterwards,I was in shock because I don't recall ever feeling an Earthquake that hard. Then we turned on the news and the news reporter's were talking about it. They said at first they thought that it was a magnitude of 6.9. Researchers researched more and it was a magnitude of 7.2. It had hit Mexicali and also Calexico. I watched the news this morning and 2 were found dead and at least 100 were injured.

Ten Second Sound Off

Yesterday I stayed at home and did my homework then I went outside. I had a pretty rough day. My social worker called and wanted to talk to me about something that my mom told my social worker. Then I called her and told her why I was upset with her and she said she was sorry. Then I stayed in the office from 9:30 to 10:30. Then I went home and took a shower and went to bed. I am kinda upset today but not because of anyone just the choices that I made.

Cyber Predators 2

If my friend came to me and told me he or she was going to meet up with
someone that they met online, I would have serious talk with them.
I would tell them about the possibilities that could happen if he or she followed through. Some of these could include rape, kidnap, robbery, drugged, or killed. I also would remind them that they don't understand what they got themselves into.

Cyber Predators

I have learned a lot from this film, to NEVER give out any information under any CIRCUMSTANCES. They might tell you that they met you at a party or something strange to get you to give them your address or phone number. They could tell you that their 18 but could really be older than what they say. There's also the chance of them coming to your house trying to rape you, drug you or rob you. He or she might kidnap you and end up killing you. I came to the conclusion that I am going to delete the people I don't know off my contacts, and to never add them.

When I was a child, my favorite song was "The Dragon Tales" theme song. When I listened to it, it made me feel happy and hyper because of the rhythm. When I listen to it now , I just laugh and think to myself, I cant believe I liked this song.

Rhmye Zone Poem

Friends are like glue,
They stick to you.
They're always around,
When things go down.
Lend a helping hand,
They are there to stand.
By your side they will be,
True friends you will see.
These friendships are forever,
These friendships will never sever.
My friends I will always cherish,
So our friendship shall never perish.

"The rhyme scheme of this poem is -AABBCCDDEEFF."

A Simile by Navarre Scott Momaday

that now we are as the deer
who walk in single file
with heads high
with ears forward
with eyes watchful
with hooves always placed on firm ground
in whose limbs there is latent flight

My winter Vacation

My winter vacation was really exciting and incredible. I went half the time at aunts, then my moms. When I went to my aunt’s house I had a fun. My cousin and I were always hanging out and playing games with each other. On New Years Eve, my cousin went out side to the balcony and threw firecrackers off. It was amazing. Then, I went to my moms house and we played I spy. After, I got to see my brother and sister. I went over to visit them and we went to the park. Then I went back to my mom’s house and spent the rest of the time with her. I had a lot of fun over the break.
